This trail, approximately 4.7 miles long, runs from Congress Avenue to Glades Road, offering a pleasant and enjoyable biking experience. This event is part of the Florida Bicycle Month celebrations, aiming to connect the community through active transportation. The trek is an excellent opportunity for both avid cyclists and beginners to explore the natural beauty of the Yamato Scrub Natural Area while promoting healthier and more sustainable transportation choices.

Florida Bicycle Month is in full swing, and we invite you to join us for a memorable cycling experience along the picturesque El Rio Trail. This event promises to be an exciting and educational journey through Boca Raton’s natural beauty and transportation infrastructure.

El Rio Trail

The El Rio Trail, stretching approximately 4.7 miles, is a vital component of Boca Raton’s multimodal transportation network. This scenic trail starts its journey from Congress Avenue at the northern Boca Raton city limits. As you pedal south, you’ll cross the Gulfstream Canal and enter the city of Delray Beach, ultimately concluding at Glades Road, situated just east of the Florida Atlantic University campus. In total, the El Rio Trail covers a distance of about 5 miles.

Your Guided Trek

Our Weekend Trail Trek will lead you on a journey southward, highlighting the unique features and stunning scenery that the El Rio Trail has to offer. From the Yamato Scrub Natural Area, we’ll set off on this adventure, making our way to Spanish River Blvd. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to appreciate the trail’s well-planned infrastructure and its contribution to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for cyclists and pedestrians.

Uyen Dang: Uyen is an active transportation engineer with extensive experience. She serves on the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA) Citizen Advisory Committee, representing the City of Boca Raton.
