Did you know that El Río Trail in the City of Boca Raton is the only greenway in South Florida that provides safe passage for thousands of pedestrians and cyclists annually to South Florida Regional Transportation Authority / Tri-Rail’s commuter train service?

The El Río Trail, a 5-mile path running alongside its namesake canal, serviced approximately 140,220 non-motorized users in 2023 according to the Florida Department of Transportation’s Non-Motorized Traffic Monitoring (NMTM) Program. It also connects the Florida Atlantic University and Yamato Scrub Natural Area with the Boca Raton Tri-Rail Station, an important transportation hub in southern Palm Beach County.

Today, we explored this greenway with residents, elected officials, and city staff on a bicycle ride to celebrate #FloridaBicycleMonth. Thank you all for attending, thank you Albert Richwagen
for providing the bikes, and then you Uyen Dang at DDEC for this FANTASTIC partnership we have established where we advocate for more bicycle safety and infrastructure for all ages and abilities!
